Chess

Chess is a popular sport at Kirstenhof. There are about 80 children in the chess programme. Many of them starting in Grade 1 where they are taught the basics.
It is widely accepted that chess is an outstanding game for the development of the brain and we are very pleased that so many children at Kirstenhof love to play chess. The benefits are in particular believed to be enhanced creativity and problem solving skills.

The hope is that one day our Grade 1s will be in the competitive team and will be able to keep up the extremely high standards we have come to expect over the years. Even more than that we want our children to play chess for the rest of their lives. A life-long skill with life-long benefits.
